What a difference a week makes.

Not so long ago we wrote about the refusal of Medscape's editor, Dr. George Lundberg to accord any respect to blogs. Now he is accepting the inevitable. Medscape is opening the gates to blogosphere with a feature on Grand Rounds. As we predicted last week, the openness always wins in the end.

Congratulations on embracing the blogging community.

There is something to add however. This is only the first step in the journey to open up the medical publishing, practice and research. What is certain is that the impact of the new models of communication enabled by Internet and blogs is only going to increase. The transformation of the healthcare system is only in the earliest stages and will progress rapidly. The age of Open Medicine is dawning and all of us are here to shape it.

Watching the transformation unfold will be a sight of a lifetime. We would like to hear your thoughts on it.
